Does anyone have advice on how to stop a dog eating furniture and other inanimate objects?

We have a beautiful Alaskan Malamute who is almost 12 months old but she detroys everything in sight.
Any tips for how to break this behaviour? I've tried spraying the furniture with dog repellent (which she then licked), Aeroguard works but she's just pulled the connection from the hose off and chomped away on that. If it exists - she will chew or shred it. Any ideas?
She gets over 2 hours of exercise each day and she is rarely alone so I'm not sure it is bordem related.
She's currently working her way through the trunk of our lemon tree and has shredded the chair legs and arms on the outdoor setting.
I know Mals have a habit of destroying things and digging things up (she has dug up, then shredded the garden irrigation system) but her behaviour is extreme. I now buy cheap things like squares of carpet so she'll shred them over things I'd like to keep intact!
Apart from that she is the lovliest, friendliest, most beautiful dog.

She needs "mental" exercise. It's great that she gets 2 hours a day of physical exercise, but how many "mental hours" of exercises does she get? While she is on her walk she also needs to exercise her brain. Make her work. put a doggy pack on her, hook her up to a wagon with weight. A Malamutes physical endurance is one thing, but think about the mental fortitude this dog must have to survive mile and miles of cold lonely winters? Yes, Sled dogs travel in a pack, but they don't get to huddle and cuddle for the night. When they are working, all they think about is carrying this sled from point A to point B. I say put her to work, once you have some basic commands down and train her to pull a wagon, and her obedience is tops, you could share her ability with others, maybe a Children's ward at a hospital. That's what I do w/ my 2 dogs, they don't just become part of the family they earn their keep by going to retirement homes, and such. When they get home, from work all they want to do is relax and unwind just like you and I do.
