RSS FeedSo I bought a KONG toy for my labrador today! Question about the black kongs though?
Thanks to whomever was present & answerered my question last night!
I haven't tested the toy out with her yet. I will in a few moments. I was looking at the black kongs & was afraid to try that one! I got her a x-large red kong instead.
Can dogs even make a dent in those black kongs? I had no idea that the black ones would be so hard! I was also afraid to get it, because I keep thinking it'll break my dog's teeth. Am I just paranoid, or is it possible? Her teeth are healthy. She chews on bones quite a bit. I still wasn't sure if the black kongs hardness could be compared to thick bones. Is it the same? I spent 15 minutes staring at them, not knowing if I should get the red or black one. Eventally came to a decision though. 
The black Kong won't break her teeth. Bones are much harder than any Kong. The black Kong will be the last one you have to buy. I have a adult male rottweiler and he has the black Kong. He also has a Galileo bone (rock hard "indestructible" bone) He has worn done the bone to half its size but the Kong looks like new. He loves to chew on it. It is nicer because it doesn't make his gums bleed from sharp points. You should still give your dog raw hides, but the Kong is a fun toy that both my rottweiler and jack russle terrier enjoy.
